Soccer From The Sidelines: Golden Eagles Shut Out Tiger Sharks in Spectacular FYSL Game.by Praveena Raman
Even though the Golden Eagles had a rough start this season with a few straight losses they kept playing as strongly as they could with the conviction that they were going to win eventually. This belief and their continuous all round training by coach Kavanagh paid off as the Golden Eagles shut out the Tiger Sharks in a spectacular 4-0 win. In the first half of the game, midfielders Karthik Raman and Patrick Painter deftly intercepted the ball numerous times and moved it quickly up the field. With timely passes they assisted the forwards in scoring the first two goals of the game. Goalie Arun Kuriakose guarded the goal well with numerous saves with the help of a strong defense team consisting of Nick Andersen, Khalid Dhanani, Adam Law, Scott Marth, and Kevin Yang.
During the second half of the game, goalie Beau Lawrence, in turn, defended the goal strongly and with the help of the same defense team helped shut out the Tiger Sharks by preventing them from scoring a single goal. Throughout the game Grant Lam, Patrick Yang, Robbie Anderson and Adam Homann were solid at midfield. Forwards Calvin Chiang, Mihir Jain and Scott Kavanagh were spectacular during the entire game scoring the four goals for the team. Two of the goals were scored by Calvin Chiang while Scott Kavanagh and Mihir Jain scored one each. The Golden Eagles finally had their moment in the spotlight. |
