Niles Tees Off with Flamingo Golf TournamentPublic Invited to Join the Fun on October 3rd by Kely McKeown
Niles residents and businesses play host to the madcap Pink Flamingo Golf Tournament, Sunday, October 3, 2004. Tee time is 12 noon with play scheduled through 4 p.m. On the day of the event, front yards of historic Niles' homes are transformed in to Fremont's most challenging golf tournament of the year.
Designed by the homeowners themselves, the course features eight unique golf holes including the popular "Watering Hole." The course is located throughout the Niles district ranging from S & A Studios to the area between 2nd and 3rd streets.
The tournament is sure to be enjoyable for the whole family. Putters are provided at each hole; however, you may bring your own if you like.
Last year's event included such unique tees as "The Hole Enchilada" and "The Donut Hole". This year's event promises to be just as enjoyable when the Niles School unveils its "Tee-chers Hole". Other holes this year include "The Bullet Hole", "The Man Hole" and the "Black Hole".
Tickets are available on the day of the tournament at The Niles Café, 121 "I" Street. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. For more information call (510) 795-8670.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Niles Main Street Association, a non-profit community based organization devoted to the historic preservation and the economic wellbeing of the notable district.
