Seniors in the Peace Corpsby Richard Bray
Contrary to the common perception that Peace Corps volunteers are all young, many older adults volunteer for humanitarian service in the Peace Corps. At this free library program, these active seniors will share the wonderful experiences they and others have had while serving in the Peace Corps in their later years.
Older Americans contribute tremendously to Peace Corps programs all over the globe. No single group has more to offer in terms of experience, maturity, and demonstrated ability. Ralph Ellison, Marilyn Petersen and Sandi Swiderski will take turns discussing their volunteer experiences in Fiji, Uzbekistan and Ethiopia.
All of these programs for seniors are free and no reservations are required. Refreshments are to be provided by the Newark Library League. For ASL interpreter, call Newark Library 7 days in advance.
