An Invitation from the Fremont Police Department19th Citizen's Academy Begins September 23rd by Geneva Bosques, Community Engagement Specialist
The Fremont Police Department is gearing up for the 19th Citizen's Academy. The academy is open to any Fremont resident, but class size is limited to about 30-35 participants, so it's on a first come first serve basis. The academy is 14 weeks long, and attendees meet every Thursday night from 6-10 pm. The program will also include one Saturday morning for range training and a ride-a-long with a patrol officer.
Each Thursday night, you will be presented with information from one of the Department's different units or programs. For example, one week you might have a presentation by the Gang Task force and the following it might be by the Internal Affairs Unit. The classes are all fun and very informative.. The program ends with a role playing exercise, and finally a graduation celebration.
The next Academy will begin on September 23rd. If you are interested in attending this class session or if you would like to be on the list for a future class, please contact Lt. Tom Mikkelsen at 510.790.6982 or < HREF="mailto:Tmikkelsen@ci.fremont.ca.us">Tmikkelsen@ci.fremont.ca.us
I personally encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about the department to attend, it's a lot of fun and a great way to meet some of Fremont's finest! |
