Think you've got what it takes to be the best gamer in town? Head down to the LOV (League of Volunteers) Community Service Center on Tuesday, August 17 or Wednesday, August 18 and prove it.

The League of Volunteers is hosting the 13th Annual Video Game Challenge for gamers, ages six and up. The 17th is reserved for the younger gamers, age of 6 to 9, when competitors will vie for honors in either "Super Smash Bros." or "1080 Avalanche," both on the Nintendo GameCube. On the 18th, ages 10 and up will compete for the title as well. The events occur at noon on both days, and certificates will be awarded to the top contestants. Registration is required, and proof of age must be presented at check-in at noon each day. Applications can be picked up at the LOV Community Service Center at 35233-C Newark Blvd. Call (510) 793-5683 for additional information.
