Permanent Home Completed for BACSby Liz Prince
Fremont Mayor Gus Morrision will be welcoming BACS South County Creative Living Center (CLC) to the Irvington neighborhood on Thursday March 13, 2004.
Bay Area Community Services' South County CLC, a day rehabilitation program for adults with severe and persistent mental illness, is celebrating the completion of their permanent home at 40965 Grimmer Boulevard in Fremont.
Through 30 years of service in the Tri-Cities, the South County CLC has been the only year-round, full-time day rehabilitation program for more than a thousand community residents. At the Center, individuals participate in activities that help them with budgeting, cooking and nutrition, socialization and symptom management. There is also a dual diagnosis component in which they are educated about substance abuse and mental illness.
BACS also operates the only Adult Day Care and Adult Day Health Care programs in the Tri-Cities, providing frail elderly and other adults with physical and mental impairments a variety of health, therapeutic and social services.
