Meet Me on Broadway to Support Senior Programsby Dan Schoenholz
Hundreds of supporters of City of Fremont senior programs will gather to enjoy great food and entertainment at the Fremont Marriott Hotel on May 20th for the first annual "Meet Me on Broadway" fundraiser. The event will raise money to help sustain the City's in-home services for the elderly and programs at the Senior Center that are at-risk due to government budget cuts.
Guests will be treated to musical entertainment by Fremont's own Rick King, as well as Steve Olla's Broadway Jazz Band and divas Margo Scarpelli and Sussy Flanigan. John Sasaki of KTVU/Channel 2 will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
"Seniors and their families currently have access to an amazing array of services in the Tri-Cities," said Suzanne Shenfil, Human Services Director for the City of Fremont. "The proceeds from this event will partially offset looming cuts in state and county funding and will help us to continue to provide options for our seniors."
Shenfil noted that each table in the Marriott dining room will feature the story of a different senior or family member who has benefited in some way from senior programs.
The event will also feature a silent and a live auction. Some of the unique items for sale include the right to take the ceremonial first whack during the demolition of the old City Government Building in Central Park, and a dinner cooked and served by firefighters at one of the City's firehouses.
It's not too late to buy tickets for this gala event! They are $100/person and may be purchased by calling the City of Fremont Human Services Department at 510-574-2048. |
