March 2, 2004 > Scholarships Nearing Deadline

The League of Volunteers (LOV) will be presenting six (6) $250 scholarships to graduating seniors who are residents of Fremont, Newark and Union City. Deadline for 3- $250 Community Service Scholarships is Tuesday, April 6, Two $250 high school scholarships awarded to High School seniors performing a minimum of 50 hours of service in the Junior and/or Senior years over and above any mandatory requirement for graduation and who maintain a 3.0 GPA.

A single $250 award is offered to Tri City ROP and Continuation Schools graduates for 20 hours of service and with a 2.5 GPA. All Community Service applicants must submit a brief essay regarding their service and goals for the future.

LOV and the Newark Arts Council are also distributing 3 - $250 scholarships in fine art, photography and music. The deadline for these scholarships is Monday, April 12. Applicants for the Music Scholarship will be required to audition in early May. The Fine Arts & Photography applicants must submit three (3) finished products for judging, along with the application.
